A State Aid Street committee has been established to receive requests and to select the state aid street projects for submittal to the State Aid Engineer for funding and construction pursuant to the provisions of Arkansas Code Title 27, Chapter 72, Subchapter 4. For a municipality with a population in excess of twenty-five thousand (25,000) residents, the state aid street project shall be funded at ninety (90%) from the State Aid Street funds to not less than ten percent (10%) municipal matching funds.
For all other municipalities, the state aid street project shall be funded at one hundred percent (100%) from the State Aid Street fund. All municipalities receiving moneys from the State Aid Street Fund shall comply with the provisions of Arkansas Code Title 27, Chapter 72, Subchapter 4.
The Street Committee has adopted a rule limiting the amount of funding approved per request per city to a maximum of $300,000 of State Aid Street funds for construction. If the costs exceed the cap, then the City must pay the overage amount or the project must be scaled back.
For additional Street Committee rules, refer to Notices.
